If you own an Acer TravelMate C314XMi laptop, the most common problem reported with this particular model is overheating. This especially becomes a problem when reformatting or attempting to run intensive programs and games.
*Complete this repair at your own risk. Not responsible for damaged hardware or injury.
Make sure the Acer TravelMate C314XMi laptop is turned off and unplugged. Flip it over and unscrew the panel with ventilation openings. This is also the panel with several of your specs stickers.
You'll immediately see the problem on the panel you just removed. For whatever reason, the manufacturer chooses to place a piece of adhesive over the vent during assembly. Simply pull the adhesive off. This is what causes Acer TravelMate C314XMi users countless hours of grief, and it's such a simple issue to fix, but most people don't recognize what the issue is. I owned my laptop for two years before I discovered this little secret.
Replace the panel onto the Acer TravelMate C314XMi laptop and screw it firmly back in place. Your overheating problems are over!

How to Buy an Acer TravelMate Laptop
With the acquisition of Gateway, Acer is the #3 PC company in the world, and reviewers tend to agree that the Acer line of laptops is one of quality in craftsmanship and functionality. The TravelMate line of laptops boasts an array of features that make them just as useful when traveling as when sitting in the office.
Compare the 8210 with others. Its dual-core
Consider the 6291, small and lightweight, for easy traveling capability. It comes with a removable optical drive, in case you want to make it even lighter.
Look at the 5720 and notice the professional look achieved by a magnesium alloy chassis. Like the other laptops in the TravelMate series, this, too, boasts the Intel Centrino duo processor. Also like the rest, wireless connectivity makes it easy to access the Internet from any place you may travel with such connection.
Notice the features of the 4230. Like the others that are made for rigorous use and demanding business schedules, the memory is large enough and the processor strong enough to allow you to use many applications simultaneously. The Super-Multi drive and the 5-in-1 card reader allows for maximum storage space as well.
Make detailed comparisons between these and other available models by looking at them in stores, where possible, and by checking reviews by those who have used them. Do this until you find one that fits your needs.
